About Me
Originally from Northern Ireland, Karen joined Advance Recruitment as a trainee recruitment consultant in 1997 after graduating from the University of St Andrews with a degree in Molecular Biology. She has since recruited across every level of the medical sales industry, from graduates and territory sales professionals through to sales managers, directors and senior commercial leaders.
Now Managing Director, Karen leads the development of the business while remaining closely involved in recruitment assignments. She is committed to continually improving how Advance works and encourages a culture in which the team learns, develops and challenges established ways of doing things.
Karen is particularly interested in the opportunities presented by AI. She believes technology should not replace the human element of recruitment, but should instead improve the experience, insight and support provided to clients and candidates.
Outside work, Karen enjoys keeping active through running, strength training and yoga. She likes a yearly challenge, having completed several 10Ks and half marathons, as well as cycling the length of the Outer Hebrides! A committed animal lover and vegetarian, Karen regularly fosters cats and kittens in need, so there are often foster kittens thundering around the house or making an unexpected appearance during a Teams meeting!
